You have such a wonderful gift of crafting word pictures. Through your gift of language Nature comes alive! And through Nature it seems that you do as well. Nature, with all its variety of flora and fauna, colours and so much more, gives us gift upon gift upon gift. And when we receive Her gifts with open hearts she renews our spirits. I am glad for you that you have had some away time to renew. And I am also happy to learn that your new home is feeling more and more like home. Wonderful. In my many journeys away, I must confess that coming home has always felt so good; and it’s been wonderful to have a home to come home to.
Hi Kharpern, I really understand that good feeling of coming home. I have become more and more of a homebody, in a lot of ways, so it is a comforting indicator that I’m acclimating to a place when that feeling comes to me. You’re spot on, how Nature gives us gift upon gift, and these gifts renew us. They sure do me, and I hear time and again how they do you as well. Thank you, as always, for the accompaniment. Also, did you mean to share a sunrise picture? I don’t want to miss it if you did. <3
Beautiful! I’m so glad you were able to let fear slip into the background and be with all the life and land instead! I found myself taking a similar tactic and was grateful to be able to. And yay for Brooklyn becoming home AND your words returning!
You're so kind, Adrian! Thank you for these words. I'm grateful you were able to find your own way to just be as well. I look forward to our next walk 💖
You are still one of my favourite writers, lovely soul. Each piece moves me and takes me on a little journey. I saved your last post, as I have been meaning to comment, but the words wouldn't come. I just want you to know that it moved me deeply, and this moves me deeply. I always feel a recognition of sorts. The world needs more voices like yours.
Oh what a glorious trip!! We lived in Estes Park where I pastored Presbyterian Community Church of the Rockies from 2015-2020. We lived less than two miles from the Beaver Meadows entrance. We loved living there and being literally in the midst of the wildlife.
Welcome home, friend (in all the ways)...and thank you for the rich vicarious experience of your vacation through your beautiful words and photos. One can't help be filled with awe when truly taking it in. 😍🥰✨
I take some comfort in that there are many of us who are like minded, and when we share like you have here we find each other amidst the chaos. I agree that it’s important to live every day finding as much good as we can. No sense in wasting any time; we get our strength back in the down time anyway, and it isn’t healthy to become overwhelmed. I’d love to be in NYC; I feel like it would be more welcoming than where I live now, in Florida.
I do love to find like minded/hearted people amidst the chaos, too, Aisling. It is indeed a comfort. I appreciate your reflection and resonance with trying to find the good as much as possible (not to dismiss the awful, in any way, but as a means of affirming what is worth living for). NYC is certainly one of the safest places to be in the country right now, at least for trans folks, I’ll give it that. If I need to be in a city right now, I’m grateful to be in this one. I can imagine Florida is a vastly different world… and still, I’m heartened by all the communities of care and resistance that are emerging in all of the places that seem the worst. There’s something beautiful and hopeful about that, which we’re not seeing here so much. I wish you that kind of goodness.
Your words always touch me deeply, friend... Thank you for this gift. I love the kinship we've kept through the years through our shared language and love of all things wild. So much love for you 💖

I did mean to. I’m sorry if it didn’t come through
I don't know why it didn't! But I appreciate you sharing it with me, regardless 🌄
What a lovely piece...I think you are probably at home more in your self, your body than most people ever are

I look forward to our next walk too! :)
ah! this is beautiful, Phoenix!
& i, too, am quite fond of prairie dogs, though i have yet to see one in the wild.
Thank you, Pan ☺️ Ohh, well, I hope you have the pleasure of seeing one in the wild someday! Do you see groundhogs? They're my local favorites here.
